Radley
MD FRCS FRCOG
Professor Stephen Radley MA MBBS MD FRCOG is a Consultant Gynaecologist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Honorary Professor at the University of Sheffield, specialising in urogynaecology, pelvic floor disorders, and digital innovation in women's health. A graduate of Queens’ College, Cambridge and King’s College London, he qualified in medicine with distinction in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and later earned his MD from the University of Sheffield. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and holds additional specialist qualifications in gynecology and urology.
Since 2001, Professor Radley has led pioneering work in clinical service development, research, and postgraduate education. He co-founded the Sheffield Urogynaecology Unit, establishing it as a nationally accredited centre for specialist care and training. His long-standing academic career includes supervising PhD, MD, MSc, and BMedSci students, as well as examining at multiple UK universities. As Director of Research in the Jessop Wing, he has been instrumental in building a high-performing academic directorate, securing major funding, and championing patient-centered innovation.
He is the founding director of ePAQ Systems Ltd, one of the NHS’s earliest digital health spin-outs, which developed a suite of electronic Personal Assessment Questionnaires used across over 20 NHS Trusts and internationally. His current projects include the NIHR-supported Devices for Dignity (D4D) programme and the BlaST (Bladder Shape Test) initiative, applying 3D ultrasound imaging to improve the diagnosis of bladder dysfunction.
