Stephen is a Consultant Gynaecologist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Honorary Senior Lecturer at The University of Sheffield. He is the Clinical Lead and Training Programme Director for Urogynaecology in Sheffield as well as being the Director of Research for the Jessop Wing. His medical education was at Queens’ College, Cambridge and King's College Hospital, London where he graduated in 1987. His training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology began in Sheffield in 1989, since when he has also spent 2 years in training and research in Reconstructive Urology. He became a Consultant in 2000 and obtained his MD with the University of Sheffield in 2005. He specialises in urogynaecology and pelvic floor disorders, including medical and surgical treatments for prolapse, incontinence and associated bladder, bowel, vaginal and sexual dysfunction. He works closely with other specialists in related fields of Gynaecology, Urology, Colorectal Surgery, Physiotherapy and Specialist Nursing.
Stephen was responsible for the design, development, testing and implementation of ePAQ (electronic Personal Assessment Questionnaire) a web-based system for the assessment of patients’ conditions, quality of life and progress. ePAQ is now being used increasingly widely in gynaecology as well other areas of healthcare.
